"I am replaying the conversation, not discovering new facts."
Social replay
After a social event, the mind may replay what you said, scan for mistakes, and predict judgment. That replay can feel like analysis, but often it is anxiety seeking certainty.
"I am replaying the conversation, not discovering new facts."
Write three neutral facts about what actually happened.
Speak to yourself like you would to a friend after a normal awkward moment.
Choose a small recovery action: food, water, shower, walk, or rest.
Try: "Some moments may have been awkward, and that is allowed. I do not need to finish reviewing the event tonight. I can return to the present now."
