Panic pattern

Fear Of Losing Control Anxiety

The fear of losing control can feel convincing because anxiety creates a strong body alarm. The first move is not to debate the fear. It is to ground your body and reduce the loop.

Alarm

It Feels Urgent

Panic can make a body sensation feel like an immediate threat.

Loop

Checking Adds Fuel

Repeatedly scanning your mind or body can keep the alarm active.

Ground

Return To The Room

Name five visible objects and press both feet into the floor.

Care

Use Support

If you feel unsafe or may harm yourself or someone else, seek urgent help.

A 90-Second Reset

  1. Say: "This is an alarm feeling, and I can slow the next minute."
  2. Exhale slowly six times without forcing deep breathing.
  3. Put the fear into one sentence instead of checking it repeatedly.
  4. Choose one stabilizing action: sit, drink water, step outside, or call support.

When To Get More Help

If this fear is frequent, leads to avoidance, or makes daily life smaller, consider talking with a qualified mental health professional. If there is any immediate safety concern, use local emergency services.
